Sustainable futures program

The sustainable futures program is a student/teacher initiative to promote and implement sustainable practices with-in the school and greater community. The Y.E.S. Team (Youth Environmental Sustainability Team) engage in projects throughout the year focusing on the water, waste, energy and transport sectors. Furthermore, the Y.E.S. Team work with Pine Rivers catchment, Brisbane City Council’s Green Hearts, Smith’s Family, St Vincent’s and AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition) on community projects.

Past projects have included:

  • Planting of trees to increase the schools biodiversity.
  • Catchment field trips
  • Installation of a bush tucker garden
  • Installation of a native bee hive
  • Introduction of a recycling program
  • Pre-loved clothing market
  • ‘Save the reef’ campaign

Future projects:

  • Kitchen garden
  • Community garden
  • Aqua culture
  • Conservation management
